Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

interested in money, ceases to appear.
