Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to magazines that are either non-existent or have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they demand money, disappears without a trace.
