Scammers Impersonate Police to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police .

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer be visible.
