Carabinieri Impersonators Scam Garda Hoteliers and Retailers

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the military.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately report to the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect having been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, tend to disappear without a trace.
