Fake Carabinieri Scams in Garda Region: Recognize and Report

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
