Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Target Garda Business Owners

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to be belonging to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
