Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military but are scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, will no longer make themselves visible.
