Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the arm.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, on a case-by-case basis, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, fire brigade, or municipal authorities.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
