Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area Phone Thieves

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, disappear as soon as they realize they have been spotted.
