Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

in possession of money, disappear without a trace.
