Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They break into conversations with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Middle and Upper Garda, claiming to be Carabinieri and offering magazine subscriptions from the Force.

It is not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipality.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

would seek money, and then disappear.
