Police Impersonators Scamming Garda Businesses: How to Spot and Report

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, do not show themselves again.
