Scammers Impersonate Officials to Sell Fake Magazines in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or Comune traffic wardens.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or titles that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, if they have money, stops showing up.
