Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion that you have been targeted by someone who,

would demand money, and then disappears.
