Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, no longer make an appearance.
