Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become a target of individuals who,

if they have money, will no longer show themselves.
