Scammers Impersonate Police to Scam Hoteliers and Shops in Garda
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.
They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing the scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
has money, but then disappears without a trace.
