Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, tend to disappear without a trace.
