Garda Scam Alert: Fake Authorities, Fake Magazines, and How to Spot Them

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the service‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal authorities.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no relation to law enforcement agencies.
