Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Locals

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to armed forces magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion that you have been targeted by individuals who,

valued money, disappear and no longer show themselves.
