Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Callers Target Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would demand money, and then disappears.
