Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they ask for money, then disappears.
