Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
