Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Mid and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the arme’s magazines.

They are not actual military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
