Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel but scammers who, at times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

if they demand money, will disappear without a trace.
