Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s officers.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
