Garda Scammers Pose as Police, Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal patrols.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
