Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Region Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance sector, police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, disappears and does not show up again.
