Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and no longer show themselves.
