Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the military’s magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

have obtained money, and then disappear.
