Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Businesses in Garda Region

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to police magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
