Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the arm.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

So, be vigilant and immediately report to the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and no longer appears.
