Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Phone Calls to Cheat

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality Police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after receiving money, no longer shows themselves.
