Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate the Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

These individuals are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize frauds

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, no longer appear or make themselves available.
