Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio e Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to the arm’s magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Comune firefighters.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri— just dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, disappear.
