Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazines in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to law enforcement magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
