Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the armed forces, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire department, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no relation to the law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri— simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer appear.
