Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the military magazines.

These individuals are not real officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer appears.
