Fiavé’s Pile-Dwellings Take Center Stage at European Archaeology Days
Fiavé’s prehistoric pile-dwelling site is at the center of this year’s European Archaeology Days, taking place June 12-14. Guided visits and hands-on workshops are organized by the Office of Archaeological Heritage of the Soprintendenza for Cultural Heritage of Trento, coordinated by INRAP and under the patronage of the Council of Europe, with activities in the bog and nature reserve, the Park Archeo Natura, and the adjacent area preserving remains of the pile dwellings. Highlights include an 11:00 guided, participatory tour titled “A Day in the Pile-Dwelling” through the faithfully reconstructed village, and a 14:30 workshop “In the Potter’s Pile-Dwelling” on ceramic production, with participants able to make a clay artifact to keep.
Participation requires prior reservation. Admission and participation cost €7, with a reduced rate of €5 and free entry for those under 14. The Park Archeo Natura and the Palafitte Museum are open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, and the events occur within the ancient palafitte village, dating back over 3,500 years and developed through archaeological research and excavations.
