Toscolano Maderno Hosts Paper Festival With Shows and Workshops From June 19 to 21

“Carta Canta”, the event dedicated to paper and papermaking traditions in Toscolano Maderno, runs from 19 to 21 June across multiple venues, including Piazza San Marco, the library, the botanical garden and the Paper Museum in the Valle delle Cartiere. The programme features installations, educational workshops, live demonstrations, cultural talks and performances organized by the local administration led by Mayor Chiara Chimini, together with the Tourism and Culture office headed by Fabiana Bonomini.

The opening on Friday 19 June starts at 10:00 in Piazza di Maderno with artistic printing demonstrations by the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, followed in the evening by an outdoor screening of “Inkheart”. On Saturday 20 June, activities include the Junior Paper Lab and pop-up workshops with Dario Cestaro in the morning, and the inauguration of Giuliano Guatta’s exhibition “Meccaniche della Meraviglia. Raccogliere Cadute” plus library meetings in the afternoon. On Sunday 21 June, there will be live demonstrations by the Mastri Cartai Mc Paper and Toscolano 1381 with former mill workers, alongside calligrapher Enrico Gnutti, the presentation of Paola Barbato’s book, and at 21:00 in Piazza San Marco the final show “Carousel” by Teatro per Caso, with the Paper Museum director Serena Goldoni, Deputy Mayor Vittoria Goi and other local and regional officials taking part.
