Terme di Sirmione Count Rambaldo di Collalto: Legacy of Spa Excellence
The second half of 1946 marked the moment of rebirth for Terme di Sirmione Count Rambaldo di Collalto. The corporate structure was completely renewed, transforming Terme di Sirmione into a joint-stock company. That same year, major renovation works commenced across the hotel and thermal facilities, and the foundation stone of the Catullo spa building was laid. The thermal baths were henceforth guided by Count Rambaldo di Collalto, an attentive and enlightened administrator who remained at the helm for 40 years until 1987, leaving an indelible mark on their history.
The Count was not only supported in his role by a cohesive and collaborative Board of Directors that over the years saw pivotal figures succeed one another—such as Cavaliere del Lavoro Franco Gnutti and Dr. Francesco Cerioli—but could also rely on the collaboration of the era’s finest experts. These included Alfonso Froner for the direction of hotel and thermal operations, and engineer Guido Bianchi Porro, to whom he entrusted the technical direction. The latter, endowed with inexhaustible inventiveness, played a fundamental role in developing and perfecting unique technical solutions. It was he, assisted by Professor Luigi Pietrantoni, director of the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic at the University of Milan, who patented the device for performing endotympanic insufflations, which formed the cornerstone of treatment for rhinogenous deafness.
