CentoMiglia del Garda: new pre-registrations open, blending sport and solidarity

The 76th CentoMiglia del Garda will be held on September 5-6, 2026, with start and finish in Gargnano, organized by Circolo Vela Gargnano. New pre-registrations have been opened, expanding a fleet that includes boats from different sailing disciplines, along with a sailing project focused on social inclusion. The 2026 event program is already available on the official site.

Among the entries, Banda Larga—an Ultimate 30 designed by Bruce Farr and built in 1992 by Dal Ferro—returns to the Garda after a refit led by Claudio Maletto. The boat, previously competing in the CentoMiglia in 2017, is set to race with a crew of eight, including six at the trapeze; the listed crew also includes Stefano Beltrando, a composites specialist and Quality Control Manager at Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. Social sailing is represented by Sub Vento Libertas, an Este 35 from the Doppiavela Solidale project, which brings together police officers as skippers and young people from difficult personal situations to build responsibility, teamwork, and trust.

Other notable crews include Evert Bastet on König Ludwig, an Asso 99 owned by Prince Luitpold von Bayern; Bastet is an Olympic silver medalist in the Flying Dutchman (Los Angeles 1984) and a world champion (1980). Max Rauffer will also be aboard, an ex German alpine ski national team athlete who won the 2004 World Cup downhill on the Saslong in Val Gardena. The regatta is organized by Circolo Vela Gargnano on behalf of the Italian Sailing Federation, with support from the Municipality of Gargnano, Pro Loco Gargnano, and This is Gargnano.
