The 49er Garda Team successfully debuted at the FX Open Series in Koper, held from Thursday, April 17 to Sunday, April 20. This new initiative represents a collaboration between the Società Canottieri Garda Salò, the Circolo Vela Gargnano, the Vela Club Campione, and the Fraglia Vela D’Annunzio, aimed at enhancing opportunities for local crews in the Olympic sailing class, particularly in the 49er FX. The sailors achieved remarkable results, with Alessio and Walter Bonizzoni finishing in fourth place, followed by Massimo Perini and Augusto Cardellini in seventh, Lorenzo Rossi and Marco Alberti in ninth, while Giovanni and Francesco Arosio secured fourteenth place.
Coach Giovanni Bonzio expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance after just a month of training on this challenging vessel. The project includes a joint training and racing program, supported by the XIV Zone FIV, with the goal of further developing the local sailing movement. This partnership represents a novelty in the Italian and European sports landscape, transcending local divisions in favor of collective growth for the athletes involved.
