On May 1st, a record influx of 14,656 visitors was recorded in the historic center of Sirmione, according to data provided by the Confcommercio Brescia Study Office. This marks an increase of 16% compared to April 25th and 58% compared to Easter Sunday. In the following days, visitor numbers remained high, with 13,499 people on May 2nd and 12,758 on May 3rd. These figures have been related to similar trends in other locations, such as Desenzano and Salò, suggesting that the influx of tourists is not an isolated phenomenon but rather a characteristic of the season.

Industry representatives, including Carlo Massoletti from Confcommercio Brescia and Marco Merlo from CARS, emphasized that Sirmione’s unique layout requires careful consideration for managing tourist flows. Merlo highlighted the importance of specific strategies to address the issue of overtourism, stating that it is crucial to adopt sustainable approaches to maintain the beauty and quality of life in the area. An analysis of peak hours revealed that over 63% of visitors concentrated in the afternoon between 1 PM and 6 PM, further underscoring the need for targeted interventions in managing tourist flows in Sirmione.
