In Desenzano, over 200 citizens gathered for the presentation of the “Committee for the Defense of Desenzano Hospital,” expressing their dissent regarding the proposal to build a new hospital in the valley below. During the meeting, held beneath the Church of Grezze, committee members called for a renovation of the current facility, highlighting that the hospital has been neglected and is unable to meet the community’s needs. Giusy Sacco, one of the promoters, emphasized the importance of active citizen participation in the decision-making process.
The committee also criticized the projected costs for the new hospital, estimated at 142 million euros, suggesting that these funds could be better used to enhance services and improve staff conditions. Furthermore, concerns were raised about land consumption and the placement of the emergency room in an underground area. Committee members appealed to the local administration to take a more proactive stance on this crucial issue for the future of local healthcare.
