Garda Scam Alert: Impersonators Claiming Police Offers for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigades, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that are unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
