Garda Scammers Pretending to Be Police, Targeting Local Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be careful and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
