Lake Garda Hosts Launch of ‘Symbol&Symbol’ Event Celebrating Italian Heritage

Once again, one of the national symbols of culinary tradition, the restaurant “Vecchia Lugana” in Sirmione, hosted in its suggestive and unparalleled setting the official launch of the second edition of ”Symbol&Symbol”, the flagship event of the 2001 tourist season around Lake Garda, scheduled from July 27 to 29 on the shores and waters of Lake Garda.

At the press conference, among numerous authorities, was the Provincial Tourism Councillor Ermes Buffoli, mayors and councilors of the towns involved in the event, as well as the leaders of the organizing committee led by Curzio Moretti, and many journalists, representatives of various newspapers, radio, and television stations.

Why “Symbol&Symbol”?

“This is not a coincidence – recalls Curzio Moretti, responsible and main architect of the event – but out of respect for the history of both nautical and Italian automotive industries. A term born within Riva and developed from an idea by Gino Gervasoni.”

“In 1978, Gino Gervasoni – wrote Sergio Massaro in his splendid volume ”Le Barche di Legno” – came up with a singular idea that, within the Riva Shipyard, could find support and realization, precisely because of the prestige the yard had globally achieved.”

The idea was to publish a magazine that, despite being independent of the shipyard, would serve as a support and interest platform for it: thus was born ”Symbol”, a picture magazine produced in collaboration with Rolls Royce and Ferrari. After its initial issues, it reached a print run of 50,000 copies, distributed to owners of these prestigious brands through agents across five continents.

Tradition and refined engineering

History and legend intertwined with tradition, notably associated with Riva and Ferrari, which continue to elevate Italian creativity worldwide.

On Lake Garda, myths will gather once again to teach and entertain.
