Lake Garda Tunnel Construction Near Completion Ahead of Ciampi Visit
The timeline for constructing the tunnel on the western shore of Lake Garda has been fully respected. Tomorrow afternoon, precisely at 5:00 PM, the Oberosler-Collini company will demolish the last rock diaphragm separating the two faces of the excavation. The latest update, received yesterday morning, estimated that 40 meters of mountain still needed to be excavated. This measure, however, will be reduced to 4 meters in the upcoming hours: exactly the section that will be demolished tomorrow in the presence of top provincial and municipal authorities.
Scheduling and completion of works
From that point, it will take at least two to three weeks to install and finalize the gallery, making it suitable for traffic. Everything should be ready in time for the arrival of President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi on July 8th.
