Lake Level Above 81 Centimeters: Reduced Outflow at Salionze

The water level of Lake Garda is currently above 81 centimeters over the hydrometric zero mark, despite ongoing drought conditions. On Friday, July 17, outflow was reduced to 65 cubic meters per second following daily coordination with Aipo and the Mincio River Consortium to manage the resource more cautiously.

According to the Comunità del Garda, the lake basin is still more than 60% full, while other pre-Alpine lakes are below 20%. The Mincio Consortium’s president, Massimo Lorenzi, contributed to regulating flows under a “maximum water saving” approach. Recent upgrades at the Salionze dam allow operators to adjust levels quickly, even multiple times a day, but the coming weeks remain delicate due to the need to balance drinking water, agriculture, tourism, hydropower and thermal uses while protecting the lake environment and fish populations.
